Bio

He was born on April 13, 1980 in the city of Irpin.

In 1997, he graduated from Irpin Secondary School No. 2.

He received his higher education at the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture (Faculty of Urban Construction and Economy) and the National University of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine (Faculty of Law).

Since 2010, he worked as a director of "PP Palii".

Since 2012 - in the position of deputy director of the utility company "Irpinvodokanal".

Since 2016, he has been the head of the utility company "Irpinvodokanal".

In the local elections of 2010, he was elected a deputy of the Irpin City Council of the 6th convocation from the political party "UDAR" in electoral district No. 5.

In the local elections of 2015, he was re-elected as a deputy of the Irpin City Council of the 7th convocation from the political party "New Faces".

In August 2018, he was appointed to the post of first deputy mayor of Irpin.

In 2020, he was elected the mayor of Irpin.

In February 2022, he headed the Territorial Defense of Irpin.

On March 24, 2022, by decree of the President of Ukraine, Oleksandr Markushin was awarded the Order of Courage, III degree, for his significant personal contribution to the protection of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, courage and selfless actions shown during the organization of the defense of settlements from the Russian invaders.

On March 24, 2022, the city of Irpin was awarded the honorary title "Hero City of Ukraine" by the Decree of the President of Ukraine in order to celebrate the feat, mass heroism and resilience of citizens, shown in the defense of their cities during the repulsion of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

After the de-occupation of Irpin, Oleksandr Markushyn, together with the head of the Irpin Investment Council, Volodymyr Karplyuk, co-founded the "Irpin Reconstruction Fund".
